A bout of Art, Drama, Food and Fun… this is what students of BJMC II and MJMC II experienced when they visited the prestigious National School of Drama to attend the 19th National Theatre Festival of India, ‘Bharat Rang Mahotsav’ on February 20, 2017.

As soon as they entered the NSD premises, the students were awestruck by the huge installations. They wasted no time posing in front of the extremely creative pieces of art which were carrying the theme and flavour of the drama festival. They then rushed towards food bazar as they couldn’t resist the invitation from food stalls serving Mughlai, Hyderabadi, East Indian, South Indian, Thai and Chinese cuisine.

Thereafter, the group proceeded to visit Museum of Indian musical instruments located at Rabindra Bhavan which is a two minutes’ walk from the National School of Drama. Several students could not resist the highly discounted literature available available at the bookstore run by ‘Sahitya Academy’. They also bought video recordings of old plays by stalwarts like Habib Tanvir and Abraham Alkazi which were made available on DVDs by the cultural ministry.

After a photo session at the famous Meghdoot amphitheatre, the group proceeded for a dose of visual art at Triveni Art Gallery. An exhibition of paintings by a group of upcoming artists was a visual delight for the students as they tried to understand and appreciate the subtle and abstract form of communication.

A perfect day came to an unusual end when they saw the house full sign displayed on the booking window. As the students could not book tickets for the play they came to see, a wave of dejection prevailed upon them. The group dispersed for their respective homes pondering upon the huge popularity of drama which otherwise goes unnoticed under the shadow of the much touted Bollywood films.
