I have completed my PhD from the University of Iowa in United States where I worked on a prestigious National Science Foundation CDI project for its completion. I obtained Master degree from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati and secured 1st position in MTech program in Civil Engineering Department. I did B.E. from Jadavpur University in India with distinction.
My past work involved modelling flow and transport of water, nutrient from agricultural land in US Midwest. It also involved understanding the connection that exists between energy (bio fuel) goal and its implications on environment, in terms of change in water quality. My masters work involved developing a distributed hydrological model, which can be effectively used for flood forecasting, suitable for semi tropical region like India.
Based on my past research experience, I am passionate about exploring more on the connections that exist between “Food and Energy” security issues and (its implication on) “Water and Climate”. Such research demands a multi-disciplinary approach and I am keen to follow-up on it in coming years.
‘Stay connected’. I have been an active member of various scientific societies e.g. American Society of Civil Engineers, American Geophysical Union etc. I also reviewed for articles in many high impact international journals in environmental domain.
My hobbies include painting, writing, photography etc. I am an avid traveller and have widely travelled in North America, Europe and part of Asia.
I can easily become friends with people from different ethnicities and understand their perspectives with ease. These qualities, I believe, have broadened my outlook.
