Professor Promil Pande is the Dean of the School of Fashion and Design, GD Goenka University. With over two decades of experience in the field, her research is presently focused on sustainability in design and indigenous craft practices. She has authored a course book on ‘Indian Embroidery’ for Nios and her most recent publication is the forthcoming book titled ‘Natural Dyeing Methods and Processes in Gujarat’. She has worked closely on developmental projects with the Ministry of Textiles and UNDP and has presented papers at numerous International conferences.Her understanding of urban-Indian and International markets for textiles and handicrafts led to the inception of ‘Sidhast,” a social enterprise focused on creating sustainable business opportunities for Indian artisans across a variety of regional craft clusters. She has developed a range of products for Industry leaders such as Fabindia, Ikea, J.C Penny, Crate & Barrel to name a few. Her work has been showcased at venues in India and abroad and her diverse experience in fashion and textiles has led her to develop design curricula at multiple institutes in India.
