This year India reached a landmark year in the history of its existence. Our beloved country, India has arrived upon a major milestone, the 70th year of its Independence. Everyone from the older generations knows the sacrifices made by our great freedom fighters to achieve this precious Independence. However the younger generation may not be fully aware of the magnanimity of this occasion, as they are privileged to have been born in a free and sovereign country. Thus, it was a very thoughtfulmove that the period from August 9 to 23, 2016 was declared as Azadi 70 – Yaad Karo Kurbani (Freedom Fortnight) by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India.
Youth today is in touch with the whole world and like to be called global citizens. However wherever they go, it is the roots of culture and heritage they get in India that make them stand apart. Appreciation for the Freedom we enjoy has to be inculcated in youth. G D Goenka University, thus welcomed this move by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt of India and participated in the event wholeheartedly with gusto and enthusiasm.
