School of Engineering, GD Goenka University Gurgaon organized an industrial visit to Cognitel at Gurgaon on 30th September, 2014 for 2nd year students of B.Tech CSE (Computer Science & Engineering).
This educational cum industrial trip was enlightening and gave the students a feel of the R&D work being carried out in the field of IT industry, especially in mobile communication system and ICT. Faculty member Ms. Vasudha Vashisht (Assistant Professor, School of Engineering) coordinated the visit. The students enjoyed the trip enormously.
Cognitel Training Services Pvt Ltd. is a focused Telecom and IT services company with specialization in Consulting, Research and Training. The Company is headquartered in India with presence in Kenya, Indonesia and Romania. Cognitel’s fast growing list of clients comprises Fortune 500 Corporations and leading Educational institutions that offer Engineering and Telecom Management Programs.
The students reached the destination by 10:30am where they were warmly welcomed by Mr. Rohit Dubey. After a brief break, Mr. Dubey gave information on various advantages of the ICT industry and the Networking Infrastructure manufacturer Huawei. Cognitel is the authorized learning partner of the Huawei in India & Asia. He also presented basic information on the working of the ICT industry and its implementation. He briefed the students on how to earn a living in the ICT industry and also introduced the two domains of the ICT industries viz. Service Providers & Global vendors. This was followed by a presentation on the basics of telecommunication systems.
After the presentation, students were divided in small groups and were taken to the establishment where small equipment and machines needed in ICT industry were housed. Ms. Minakshi Chawla took over the session and explained the working of these equipment & machines and implementation on the OSI model through these machines. The closing session was again delivered by Mr. Rohit Dubey. He introduced to the students the information about CBAP certification courses that would be helpful to them in future from placement point of view.
This visit gave students idea of existing opportunities and work culture in the ICT industry. It also encouraged and motivated the students to update their knowledge on the new technologies which will help them in preparing for the placements into major ICT companies.
