India celebrated her 72nd Independence Day on this August 15, 2018. School of Education (SoEd), G D Goenka University celebrated Independence Day of India with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. On the morning of August 14, 2018, our student-teachers presented hand-made greeting cards and tri-colour flag badges to the senior management functionaries of the University. Joyfully, they conveyed their greetings in advance for Independence Day to the Deans and faculty members of all the Schools at the University by presenting them tri-colour flag badges.

The cultural programme at School commenced with all everyone singing together ‘Vande Mataram’. The spirit of freedom and nationalism was well exhibited by the student-teachers of SoEd through a spectrum of patriotic poems, speeches, quiz on freedom fighters, songs and dance. Committed to the task of nation building, both faculty and student teachers at SoEd pledged to serve their motherland through spreading education and serving the community. A student- teacher made a presentation on the historical evolution of the National Flag of India. Another student-teacher enlightened the audience on the contribution of unsung heroes of the Indian freedom struggle like Tirupur Kumaran, Kamla Devi Chattopadhayay and Khudiram Bose. A few of them spoke on the history and significance of the Independence Day and shed light on the special highlights of celebrations this year. A group of student-teachers shared inspirational quotes on Freedom and expressed their views on ‘What does Freedom Mean to Me?’ The celebrations concluded with inspiring words of Prof (Dr.) Reva P. Raina, Dean, School of Education, followed by the National Anthem and then distribution of sweets.
