The Legal Support and Services Committee of School of Law, G D Goenka University in association with Justcie Krishna Iyer Free Legal Aid Cell organized a guest lecture on “Rights of Under Trial Prisoners” on 22nd October, 2018. Ms. Rakhi Budhiraja (Advocate Supreme Court), Anand Kumar (Advocate Delhi High Court), Khusnuma Grewal (Justice Krishna Iyer Free Legal Aid Cell), Aakansha Monga (Advocate Punjab and Haryana High Court) delivered lectures on the rights of under trial prisoners. Under trial prisoners are those persons who are facing trials in the competent courts. They are technically under judicial custody but for all practical purposes are kept in the same prison especially in India. Delay in trial of cases is the main human rights issue of under trials. Model Prison of 2050 was dicussed by the speakers. It was very enriching session for law students.
