Mr. M.M. Zafar, industry expert from Mathworks, trained the students and faculty members of GD Goenka School of Engineering on 29th September 2016. This training was focused on the ‘Statistical and Machine Learning’ toolbox of MATLAB.

During this training Mr. Zafar helped the students and faculty members to model and analyze multidimensional systems using cluster analysis, ANOVA, regression analysis and feature selection using dimensionality reduction methods followed by application of supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms for automated classification of big data sets.

They also showed how to use descriptive statistics and plots for exploratory data analysis, fit probability distributions to data, generate random numbers for Monte Carlo simulations, and perform hypothesis tests. Regression and classification algorithms were used to draw inferences from data and build predictive models.

This was one of the many training sessions that has been conducted on MATLAB with each training facing on a certain aspect of this vastly used software. The session was quite interactive and fruitful.
