The International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June 2019 at the GD GoenkaUniversity campus to usher in peace, harmony, happiness and success to every soul in the world. Yoga is a mental, physical and spiritual practice that needs to be carried every day; this was a great opportunity to imbibe the value of this discipline. The session was attended in good number by students, faculty and staff members. All participants were welcomed by Prof. (Dr.)Tanuja Kaushik, Dean- Student Welfare & International Relations; the proceedings were then handed over to the Yoga Instructor.

The Instructor Mr. Raj Kumar Yadav, Sports officer started the session with a prayer and explained how yoga embodies unity of mind and body. The participants thereafter performed various Yoga asans between 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. All yoga asans were introduced and explained before being performed. Finally, the session ended with meditation and prayer.
The participants benefited from the session and expressed their heartfelt thanks for conducting the session on the occasion of International Yoga Day. The University is further planning to make yoga a regular affair for all students, faculty and staff members in the forthcoming academic session.
