Final Year BBA Students of School of Management visited Village Bijopur, District Faridabad, on 2nd March 2017. The visit was for students presently studying Rural Marketing and Retail Marketing to enable them comprehend prevailing purchase behavior of rural consumers and unmet demands in these markets.

The students were divided in four groups and each group had to conduct their study on one of the following projects

a. Study of a rural market’s demographic profile
b. Impact of demonetization on rural consumer and rural retail sector
c. Brand awareness and brand preference in rural market
d. Promotion of goods in rural retail shops

The village was chosen since it was headed by alumni of School of Management, Nasir Khan who is presently the Sarpanch of the Village. For many of the students who hail from urban cities, the visit was first of its kinds and an eye-opener. They not only conducted the research but also got apprised of the various challenges faced by rural India. In a way, the trip was both educational as well as soul searching. The students got an opportunity to develop an understanding of the effectiveness in rural areas and how technology could improve awareness levels and raise aspirations of consumers and create business opportunities. The interaction with villagers at the field level would be a valuable source of knowledge to the students once they enter the working world as managers. The visit also gave them a chance to identify opportunities where private enterprise and professional management can bring a positive change in rural areas. It concluded with the faculty coordinating the trip, Ms. Ruchika Shokeen and Ms. Raunica Ahluwalia honouring their ex- student Nasir Khan with a trophy commending him on his performance as the Sarpanch.
