Day One

The Programme started with Prof. (Dr.) Kim Menezes Dean SoM extending a warm welcome to the fresh batch of MBA students. The Dean highlighted that students should stay focussed as well as be open to new ideas and experiences. The welcome address was followed by introduction of faculty members at SoM
The enthusiastic group of students were then addressed by Prof. (Dr.) Suku Bhaskaran, President, GD Goenka University .He welcomed the students to the GD Goenka Community. He emphasized that GD Goenka University is committed to providing a wonderful teaching and learning experience. In this journey the students and the faculty members should work together to achieve the long run goals, he said.



The Pro Vice Chancellor, GDGU, Prof. (Dr.) S. Shanthakumar then welcomed the MBA students .The grooming of future manger starts from day one he said. Getting a job should not be the sole focus of the students but rather they should look for opportunities to create new ones, were the Pro VC’s words.
Post lunch the Dean, SOM, Prof. (Dr.) Kim Menezes addressed the students and their parents and spoke about important issues like students’ attendance, their code of conduct in the classroom and the assessment structure to be followed during the course. She assured the students that her door would always be open for them and asked them to come and discuss any issues that they face during the course.
Next the students moved on to the registration desk for registering for the course and getting their documents verified.

The MBA students are always eager to know about the placement procedures The CRC team led by Mr.Manoj Sahani explained their role in placing the students. Starting from writing their resumes to taking the final interviews, structured guidance is given to the students all through.



Day Two

After a refreshing cup of tea the students assembled for a guest lecture session conducted by Ms.Rakhee Sharma a leadership coach and facilitator followed by Ms Nidhi Upreti Dhawan,VP, Genpact .Their words were indeed inspirational. It is all about the mindset they said .They urged the young ‘to be ‘leaders to believe in themselves and to treat both success and failure as experiences and draw lessons from them.

Post lunch Dr.Gyanesh Sinha, Associate Prof, SOM, took the students through the Course Plan and Credit requirements for the MBA and PGDM programmes.

GDGU believes in enriching student s’ experiences at the campus. Prof.(Dr.) Tanuja Kaushik Dean, Student Welfare , introduced the Events and the Club activities that are going to be organised in the University during the year.

The day ended with a mentor-mentee session where the students interacted with their designated mentors.



Day Three

The last day of orientation started with an Ice Breaking Session for the students conducted by faculties of SOM, Dr. Vandana Mehrotra, Dr. Raunica Ahluwalia, Dr. Nusrat Khan & Dr. Suman Shokeen. With a lot of zeal and enthusiasm, the students brought forth their team building and interpersonal skills. Most importantly they felt quite at ease in the new environment.

Thereafter came a presentation by Mr. D.S. Parihar , Controller of Examination , GDGU. He spoke to the students about GDGU’s policies on Examination Grading and Promotion. He also highlighted the discipline control measures taken during examinations.

In order to provide a safe and secure campus life for the students, GDGU has set forth strict disciplinary norms .Prof. (Dr.) Anil Dawra, Proctor,GDGU familiarised the students with the rules and regulations and that are expected to be followed by them in the campus .

The Orientation programme ended with Dr Suneel Arora, Associate Prof, and SOM taking a session on plagiarism norms to be followed by the students in their academic work.
