November 1, 2018, GD Goenka University was buzzing with young entrepreneurs busy with their own business ventures for the 6th edition of Udyami Bazaar - The Genesis of Student Entrepreneurship, organized by GD Goenka Technology Business Incubator (GDGTBI) in association with MSME Technology Development Centre. Guest of Honour, Mr. R. Pannerselvam, Principal Director at MSME Technology Development Centre along with the President of GD Goenka University, Prof. (Dr.) Suku Bhaskaran, Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) S. Shanthakumar, Registrar Dr. Nitesh Bansal and Head, GDGTBI & Dean Student Welfare Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Kaushik inaugurated the event. The President welcomed the gathering. Mesmerizing performance by Music Club; Dramatics Nukkad Natak along with Flash mob by Dance club set the tone for Udyami Bazaar 2018. This is a platform to display entrepreneurial, creative and marketing skills of the youth. Over 80 stalls with 160 students were registered for the event. Students from GD Goenka University as well as other institutes participated. Stalls with varieties of food, product merchandise and entertainment were busy to promote their product and do business. The ground was vibrant with visitors to the various stalls and a rhythmic DJ corner. Each stall was judged on their marketing, management, crowd attraction, innovation and creativity.

A panel of jury members visited the stalls and judged each one of them with reference to certain specific parameters. Ms. Maria Mendes, Principal of Kamalini Vocational Training Centre - Gurgaon, Chef Abhijit Dey, Head Chef in Havana Vieja and Mr. Harshul Madaan, Demand Manager at OYO Rooms - Gurgoan were the honorable members of the jury. Later the student members of GDGTBI Entrepreneurship Cell were presented with badges as an acknowledgement for their effort. After an entire day of business activity with our young entrepreneurs, it was the time to declare the prizes. One winner and one runner-up were awarded for each category. The winners received a cash prize of ₹5000/- and the runners-up won ₹3000/-. Total cash prize worth ₹24000/- was sponsored by MSME. The categories were Most Innovative Stall, Most Well Managed Stall and Most popular stall. The prizes were awarded by the Guest of Honour, Mr. R. Pannerselvam, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) S. Shanthakumar and Head GDGTBI & Dean Student Welfare Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Kaushik.

The winner for the Most Innovative Stall went to the stall which was about the promotion of Swachh Abhiyan in rural India and was owned by Amit Bhattacharya (SoHSS); Shubham Wadichar (SoM) won the runner-up trophy for his stall showcasing the game “Cover the Spot”. Reunion Adda selling coffee and waffle ensured that their customers were entertained with games for the waiting time. This stall hosted by Surabhi Jain and Abhishek bagged winner’s trophy in the Most Well Managed Stall. Runner-up trophy was won by Beena Devi Kanchan from Kamalini Vocational Training Centre; the under privileged girls from nearby villages showcased their tailoring and beauty services. Finally, the award was announced for Most Popular Stall. Winners were Neha and Taniya Appeksha (SoL) for their stall that sold roses with a message that included on the spot shayari with the given name. Nakul Gupta and Aarushi Rahi (SoFD) received the runner-up trophy for their stall that sold hand made jewelry at reasonable rate.
Each participant of Udyami Bazaar 2018 was recognized with a Certificate of Participation. The event closed with the Vote of Thanks to acknowledge the support of President, Pro Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Head GDGTBI, Administrative Officer, faculty members of GDGTBI, student members of GDGTBI, volunteers, participants and all others involved with this event.
