National Youth Day or Yuwa Diwas is celebrated with the great joy and enthusiasm in India every year on 12thof January. It is celebrated to commemorate the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, maker of the modern India. The philosophy, ideas, and teachings of Swami Vivekananda can justifiably be called national assets from traditional and cultural points of view.



The Even Semester 2018 at the School of Education began on an inspiring note with celebrations of National Youth Day on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. The student-teachers presented soul-stirring Sanskrit prayers ‘Aasto Maa Sadgamaya’ and ‘Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah’ with their English translation. The faculty and student-teachers of School of Education, GD Goenka Universitytook pledge to the Swadesh Mantra given by Swami Vivekananda. During the programme, the participants gave speech on the significance of celebrating National Youth Day and highlighted the life, teaching and educational philosophy of Swami Vivekananda. They presented patriotic songs and also explained the significance of inspirational quotes of Swami Vivekananda in the lives of teachers. One of the student-teachers dressed as Swami Vivekananda presented the famous Chicago Speech. The programme concluded with the inspirational message by Prof. (Dr.) Reva Raina, Dean, School of Education and then the National Anthem.
