SoAP bags 2nd Position in \"Wood is Good\" Design Competition by FoAID

Heartiest Congratulations to the team of 7th Semester students (Namely- Akshat, Rahul, Sheru, Shikha, Megha, Aman, Rohit and Dheeraj) of School of Architecture and Planning, G D Goenka University, on winning the 2nd prize in Wood is Good theme Design Competition by FoAID after putting in a lot of hard work in a few days after concept finalization.

The students were introduced to this National level Design Competition 2018, launched by Festival of Architecture & Interior Designing (FoAID) in May 2018 after which they were required to form team of 7.

By end of July 2018, the team of Canadian wood visited G D Goenka University campus to brief the participant students on the qualities of wood which they were to use. The students were required to make a prototype of a furniture product using Canadian wood (supplied by FoAID) which will be multi-functional, space saver as well should have 80% wood and only 20% hardware maximum.

The students started brainstorming on various ideas, their advantages, their restrictions etc. and finalised their concept in Mid September and produced a working model of the same in less than 5 days which had more than 95% wood. The faculty coordinator and student mentor for this event was Ms. Varsha Khetrapal Kumar.

The competition provided a great opportunity for the students to exhibit their concept and Working model to architects, product designers, designers, clients from various industries and jurors of the competition on 21st and 22nd September 2018. Their unique idea, a fabulous working model along with their understanding of wood and functioning of the furniture piece bagged them this position.
