SOFD Study Trip to Blind School

On 23rd February 2017, 6th semester students from School of Fashion and Design of all disciplines got an opportunity to visit Capt. Chandanlal Special Middle School for the Blind in Gurugram. This visit was arranged as part of a Design Studio project related to design for special needs.

The students got an in-depth tour of the school and the attached residential area by the Principal and the faculty of the school. They interacted with the visually impaired children, who were from the age group of around 3 year to around 14 years. In the process, our students became aware of their own pre-conceived notions regarding the blind and realized the special care these children require while growing up. Our students are now working on different design opportunities based on their observations and discussions, and in the process, developing their understanding of the power of design to make an impact in the lives of people.
