GD Goenka University, Sohna Road, Gurgaon celebrated the farewell function in an emotionally-charged cultural Extravaganza “Transcend 2017” for the Class of 2017 on April 21, 2017. The event was hosted to perfectionas an unforgettable farewell to the graduating students by their junior students in a very well organized and fabulous manner led by faculty coordinators of all schools and Head Student Welfare, Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Kaushik. “Transcend 2017” commenced with an emotional and enthralling video, full of memories followed by the address of Hon’ble Vice- Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Deependra K Jha.



Prof. Jha initiating with the words “The two hardest things to say in life are ‘Hello’ for the first time and ‘goodbye’ for the last,” encouraged the students to have a holistic view of the world once they enter their professional career. Sharing his views, he insisted upon planning, perseverance, performance: the cordial principles of success in one’s career. In his address he quoted the words of T.S.Eliot “What we call the beginning is often an end. And to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from.” He stated that the demand for quality students has been increasing day by day. He appreciated the steps taken by different schools at GDGU in imparting education to the students. The alumni placed across the globe are doing their best to contribute for the social welfare. He emphasized that if all the pillars of social structure are strong, certainly the dream of common people, India becoming a superpower by 2020 will come true. He congratulated the students and wished for a bright and rewarding career ahead.



The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation from all the schools and it was a perfect blend of culture and modern trends, in a colourful ceremony comprising of mellifluous songs, foot- tapping Western and Classical Dance performances, Fashion Show and emotional speeches by the students.The event also witnessed an active participation in games from the outgoing batch, where the students were bestowed with the titles by their respective Deans like ‘Mr. Know it all’, ‘Mr. Doubt fire’, ‘Ms. Crowd Magnet’, ‘ Ms. Stylish’, ‘Ms. Dancing Diva’, The Intellectual Guy’, ‘Ms. Fashion Queen’, ‘Mr. Topsy Turvy’, ‘Mr. No worry be Happy’ and many more.....



The outgoing batch of students, who attended the programme were visibly moved by the warm wishes they received from their juniors through their performances. Some of them also got emotional and recollected the memorable moments they had spent in GDGU. The students delivered a highly motivating and emotional speech aiming to contribute more in the services of Society and Nation.



Addressing the dynamic and esteemed gathering Anjali and Kamana, students from SoHSS stated that “GDGU had been our home for the past three years. That\'s why graduation feels like a mix of happiness and sadness both. We will forever keep GDGU in our heart.”



Sharing his experience Tanmay from SoE said “Tables turn, bridges burn, you live and learn, after all, it\'s your journey who teaches you about the destination. Quoting Street poet and philosopher Dreck he said “it\'s okay to lose some and win some, as long as the outcome is income, you know you want it all and then some.”



Zubair from SoM stated “For me the experience at GDGU has been really amazing which I would cherish throughout my life. I’ve learned a lot, how to present my work, developed a lot of confidence and discovered a lot of other talents within myself.” He shared his memories in the form of a beautiful poem ‘Departure’.

Sharing her memories of three years at GDGU, Anisha from SoC stated that “All of our life, we have wanted to grow up, appear older, taken seriously, get a job, earn money, and it all sounds good, until you realize you are not young anymore. Thank you every one, for giving us innumerable opportunities and unforgettable memories that we made at GDGU.”



“As our lives change, gone forever, we will still be friends forever.” Keeping these words in mind the students of GDGU: Seniors and Juniors parted this day promising always to perform well in future. The function was concluded expressing heart-felt gratitude to the Magnanimous Management,Hon’able Vice- Chancellor, Registrar, Head Student Welfare, Deans, Faculty members and students in making the function a grand success.
