The five days’ (January 16-20, 2018) workshop on LINUX and LaTeX opened with small introductory speech by the head of the department, Prof. (Dr.) Anshu Gupta on 16th January 2018 followed by LINUX sessions for two days. The resource person of the LINUX workshop was Dr. Shashikant Gupta from the department of Basic and Applied Sciences. The workshop started with introduction to Linux and its comparison with other OS, demonstrated how to create user account and then discussed LINUX File system, GUI vs terminal/command line, some basic commands, editors and file editing, C and Latex on Linux platform, plotting through GNUPLOT. It was followed by three days of LaTeX workshop, starting from 18th January 2018.



The resource person for LaTeX software was Dr. Renu Chaudhary from department of Basic and Applied Sciences. Journal paper writing using LaTeX software was demonstrated. It covered writing of paper topic, authors, affiliation of authors with respective email IDs and notations. Writing abstract, introduction with sections and subsections, itemization, tables, graphics insertion and concluded with bibliography. The workshop successfully ended on 20th January with vote of thanks from the coordinator of the workshop.



The workshop was attended by 17 members from the School of Engineering, GD Goenka University comprising of faculty members and lab technicians. It was an insightful workshop and an excellent learning opportunity for the delegates.
