‘Yoga Chitta Vritti Nirodha\"(Sutra 1.2) from Patanjali\'s Yoga Sutras refers to stilling the mind in order to experience Ultimate Reality. When our thoughts are calm and our mind in its natural state of tranquillity, we can move toward self-realization.



Yoga has been an integral part of Health and Physical Education that has been a compulsory subject up to the secondary school stage since 1988. The National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2005 adopted a holistic definition of health in which yoga is an integral part of it.



School of Education, G D Goenka University organized a workshop on ‘Yoga, Pranayama and Shudhikriya’ February 23, 2018. The resource person Ms. Nidhi Banerjee, Assistant Professor, School of Engineering, G D Goenka University briefed the student-teachers that Yoga is not just exercise and asanas but an emotional integration and spiritual elevation with a touch of mystic element, which gives one a glimpse of something beyond all imagination. The student-teachers performed a few asanas and Pranayama under her guidance. The Shudhikriya in form of JalNetiwas performed by the resource person.
