Pranav Suri and Shubham Chahal (1st Year B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering students) of G D Goenka University have won the zonal round of the workshop cum competition on Digital Marketing, TECHUNT 2014, organized by the Computer Society of India (CSI) and held at GD Goenka University campus.
Digipreneur – A Digital Marketing workshop cum competition was organized by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, GD Goenka University on 25th and 26th November 2014 in association with Computer Society of India and Nurture Talent Academy. The workshop was attended by 91 enthusiastic participants involving participation from marketing team member of Purple Head Company, New York, entrepreneur form health domain, Co-founder of IBNC INDIA (Networking Software Workshop Company) and an expert on Information security. Faculty members Ms. Shweta Mongia and Ms. Shipra Kataria took the charge of coordinating the entire event with student coordinators Tanmay Dhawan, Nikita Agarwal, Akanksha Garg, Devanshu Chawla and Saksham Rana.
The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Amit Grover, CEO, Nurture Talent Academy. As soon as the workshop started, learning started soon in a fun filled way with numerous exchanges of ideas. Teams of maximum 5 students were formed and in a time limit of one minute they had to come up with a business idea. Surprisingly, the teams came up with as many as 14 ideas in less than a minute. To put plan into action and start business virtually, the participants were taught to make websites using blogger portal and add element through sites like Majesto, fotor and powtoon. Apart from this, they also made official mail ID on LinkedIn to expand their business contacts and micro blog about their product updates worldwide through twitter.
In today’s world where Facebook has become like a virtual home and friends like a virtual neighbor then it makes sense to introduce a virtual market in society which will help to expand marketing digitally. Keeping this idea in mind, the resource person taught the participants how to use Face book for sales and marketing using advanced tools and earn extra money. Students also had a lesson on WhatsApp and missed call marketing. This workshop turned out to be really informative as it turned noobs to geek.
The participants also got an opportunity to present their innovative ideas in a competition organized on the second day of the workshop where they had to present their business ideas and how they had put the knowledge they gained in the workshop and apply it to expand their business ideas. The students who initially had no idea as to what digital marketing is came up with the best business idea. Each idea was different and innovative in its own way.
