GURGAON, March 2: The G.D. Goenka University signed an agreement with NDTV Worldwide today to conduct workshops for the University’s Journalism and Mass Communication students.

The agreement was signed by Prof (Dr) Raj Singh,Vice Chancellor of the University, and Mr Shyatto Raha, Chief Executive Officer of NDTV Worldwide at an impressive ceremony held in the University campus this morning.

Under the agreement, NDTV Worldwide will hold a series of workshops where it will invite senior NDTV Editors to share practical skills, knowledge and insights with the undergraduate and post-graduate students of the University’s School of Communication.

The training will expose the media students to the latest in television journalism, and also give them an opportunity to learn from some of the best professionals in the industry.
Expressing happiness at the signing of the agreement, Prof Raj Singh said, “The workshops will help our students hone their skills and become industry ready.”               

Mr Raha was equally sure that the workshops will add to the knowledge and skill levels of the students. As a goodwill gesture, he invited the Faculty and students to visit NDTV offices even before the agreement becomes effective from April 1, 2016.

Among the workshops that NDTV Worldwide will conduct are: Getting the Story, Writing for TV News, Role of Producer, Preparing the News Bulletins, Anchoring the News, Reporting Live from the Field, Editing TV news, and working in an Integrated Newsroom.

Besides the workshops, the NDTV team will also help in improving the television curriculum so that it reflects industry needs. Another area where the NDTV team will provide insights and inputs to the University is in the selection of equipment and the building of TV Studio.

The agreement also provides for student visits to NDTV facilities, participation in TV debates as audience and internships.

All students who successfully complete the course will get a Certificate of Participation from NDTV Worldwide. The University too will allocate credits to the students.

Ms Vrishali Puranik, Executive Vice President, Business Strategy and Programming, and Mr Sanjay Ahirwal, Managing Editor of NDTV Worldwide, were present at the signing ceremony. From the University side, Dr Nitesh Bansal, Registrar, Prof (Dr) Deependra Jha, Dean Academics, and Prof Sunil Saxena, Dean, School of Communication, attended the signing ceremony.
