Yoga has been an integral part of Health and Physical Education that has been a compulsory subject up to the secondary school stage since 1988. The National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2005 adopted a holistic definition of health in which yoga is an integral part.

School of Education, G D Goenka University organized a workshop on ‘Yoga, Pranayama and Shudhikriya’ on February 07, 2019. The resource person Dr. Suman Shaukeen, Assistant Professor, School of Management, G D Goenka University briefed the student-teachers about shudhhikriya and various types of yoga asanas helpful in different types of diseases. The student-teachers performed a few asanas and pranayama under her guidance. Different types of meditation postures were performed by the student-teachers under the supervision of the resource person. Students were very happy having learnt about yoga and its benefits.
