They will now compete at IIT Delhi for the national event.
NNSC-2014, a Workshop-cum-championship on “Networking and security” was organized by School of Engineering, GD Goenka University in association with Network Bulls, Gurgaon and ACM – IIT Delhi on 21st and 22nd February, 2014. GD Goenka University was one of the 70 Zonal Centres across India who conducted the event. The Workshop was attended by 85 enthusiastic participants. Faculty members Dr. Sandeep Nagar and Dr. Shalini Bajaj took charge of coordinating the entire event with Mr. Riyaz Ali Munsoori and Mr. Geet Narang as student coordinators, under the guidance of Dr. Deependra K. Jha (Dean, School of Engineering).
Mr. Shashank Bhushan and his associate, CISCO certified trainers from Network Bulls, Gurgaon were the resource persons who orchestrated the sessions on both the days. In this workshop, students were taught the basic architecture of network, switches, routers etc. Various software tools like packet tracer and Wire-shark were demonstrated to students and practical sessions gave important insights on simulation of networks. A thorough understanding of various network topologies, programming of routers and switches, importance of choice of various components and simultaneous simulation of the same ensured a complete learning experience for participants. Students were also encouraged to observe the network devices in their surroundings like home and university and find out correlations from concepts being taught during the lecture. Every session was heavily infused with a lot of questions from student’s side and they were handled well by trainers.
The session came to an end in the evening with a competition which comprised of a written test based on the sessions on both days. Concluding the event, faculty member Mr. Abhishek Pandey presented the vote of thanks.
