B.Sc. (Hons.) Biochemistry programme endeavours to instill in students the knowledge and skill to investigate the building blocks of life, understand their interactions in living organisms, delve deeply into drug discovery and design and explore how modern molecular bioscience approaches can solve key challenges in Cell Biology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physiology and Genetics. A natural curiosity for science and proven understanding of Biology and Chemistry would foster a spirit in the students to learn how science can be exploited for the benefit of mankind.
- The graduates will understand the principles and theories of Biochemistry so as to appreciate the inherent potentials of Biochemistry in the elucidation of life starting from the unicellular prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms to the more complex multicellular organisms.
- The graduates will inculcate the spirit of discipline, sensitivity and an awareness of research trends in selected areas of Biochemistry.
- The graduates will generate an appreciation of the importance of Biochemistry in industrial, economic, environmental, technological and social development.

Protein and Food Biochemistry, Enzymology, Molecular and Cell Biology, Immunology, Cell Signaling, Bioreactor and Bioprocess Technology, Genomics and Proteomics, Statistics and Computational Biology, Clinical and Industrial Biochemistry, Plant-Animal-Human metabolism, Instrumentation.
Biochemistry graduates can work as Research Biochemists, Industrial Biochemists, Clinical Biochemists, Biochemists/Molecular Biologists, along with a challenging career in the pharmaceutical industry, environmental testing, forensic science laboratories, other laboratories in universities, biotechnology companies and agricultural sector, medical and veterinary institutes. Opportunities also exist with analytical and research laboratories in areas such as the food & beverages or fuel production from waste products by fermentation. New opportunities have recently risen in hospitals and government agencies, in specialist areas, such as biosecurity and quarantine.
10+2 from CBSE or equivalent examination with Biology/ Biotechnology and Chemistry as compulsory subjects, along with one of the Physics/ Mathematics/ Technical vocational subjects. In addition, the candidates will also have to successfully complete GATA (Goenka Aptitude Test for Admission) and appear for a personal interview.
