Research Groups @ School of Engineering

Innovation in both fundamental as well as signature areas is the hallmark of the spirit of GD Goenka University’s research policy. With a team of young and dynamic professionals as faculty, School of Engineering has initiated research studies under four separate groups with distinct demarcation of area of interest as computer science and engineering, bio-sciences and nanotechnology, product design and development, and system performance and reliability studies. However, being distinctly defined does not stop these research groups to work cohesively in the spirit of inter-disciplinary approach and find common goals in research work undertaken. Innovative initiatives like "Research Saturday" distinguishes the school from the rest where faculty and students dedicate whole Saturday exclusively for research activities that include training students, manufacturing and repairing scientific equipment in labs and designing innovative engineering solutions. These are helpful in stimulating interest among students in engineering studies particularly at undergraduate level in addition to using them as teaching aids. Well-equipped state-of-the-art laboratories help establishing a conducive environment for carrying out research at such a nascent stage of a young university. The faculty members are carefully handpicked from some of the most reputed institutes in India (IITs, NITs etc.) and abroad (USA, Europe, Japan etc.). They bring immense academic weight to the campus thanks to their proven research track record in terms of quality publications and patents.

System Performance and Reliability Research Group (SPRR)

Product Design and Manufacturing Research Group (PDMR)

Prototype design is an important aspect of any product development. The tuning of physical properties enables us to opt for right material for particular application and appropriate manufacturing technique ensures that we work in an optimally feasible and economically viable range. The main focus of the Product Design and Manufacturing Research Group (PDMR) at School of Engineering (GD Goenka University) is to investigate efficient choice materials for a device, design and investigate optimum manufacturing technique for the same. Being an application oriented research group, PDMR emphasizes on product design and manufacturing techniques which have industrial relevance. The group seeks active participation in industrial activities .

High-End Computing Research Group (HECR)

High End Computing is typically used for solving advanced problems and performing research activities through computer modeling, simulation and analysis. The High End Computing Research Group (HECR) at School of Engineering (G D Goenka University) focuses on designing, developing and building hardware and software systems, doing scientific research, making computer systems behave intelligently, and processing, structuring and managing various kinds of information. HECR is engaged in research and training activities in the areas of big data analysis, cloud computing, natural language processing, data mining techniques, social network analysis, artificial intelligence, expert systems for design and manufacturing, robotics, graph theory, machine learning, software engineering, parallel computing, computer networks, distributed systems, as well as its application in solving complex engineering problems.
