Prof. Dr. S. Shantha kumar is Dean, School of Law, G.D. Goenka University. Earlier, he was Dean, Faculty of Law at SGT University, Gurgaon;Director of ITM Law School, ITM University, Gurgaon; Associate Professor of Law and Controller of Examinations at Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur; Senior Lecturer at Government, Law College, Madurai; and Senior Lecturer at Government Law College, Chennai. Before joining the legal academia he had practiced at the Madras High Court for seven years.He is an alumnus of Madras University where he obtained his graduation, post graduation and doctorate degree in law. His areas of specialization are Environmental Law, Human Rights Law, International Law, and Constitutional Law. He has authored 3 books on Environmental Law and 2 books on Human Rights Law. He has published a number of research articles on various contemporary legal issues in various reputed national and international journals and edited volumes. He has presented papers and delivered key note addresses in many national and international conferences in India and abroad. He had executed the Environmental Law Capacity Building Project funded by World Bank; the Law Teaching and Legal Research Skills Project of the British Council and Cardiff University, U.K. and a Research Project on "Audio Piracy" funded by the MHRD, Government of India. He has been a very active member of the International Association of Law Schools, U.S.A.He was awarded the "Environmental Law Champions Development Award" from the Asian Development Bank, Philippines.
He is an IPS (Retd.), LL.B and LL.M from the Faculty of Law, and BSc from St. Stephen's College, University of Delhi, Executive MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad in association with the London Business School, a course in Crisis Management from American University, Washington DC, USA. He also completed courses in Crisis Management from American University, Washington DC, USA , Contracts laws from Harvard University, USA, American Constitution from Yale University, USA and American Laws from University of Pennsylvania Law School (U Penn, USA). An IPS of 1982 Batch, has tremendous experience in the working of Indian laws and a close familiarity with the working of Indian courts at all levels as he has also practiced as an Advocate in the Delhi High Court. Professor Dawra specializes in Criminal laws with emphasis on victimology, penology and plea-bargaining."
He has completed his B.A. LLB (Hons.) from WB National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata in year 2009. Thereafter, he joined LLM programme at South Asian University, New Delhi. He has appeared for UGC NET exam and selected for Junior Research Fellowship.
Before joining G D Goenka University, he has prior experience of teaching at Christ University, Bangalore and NUSRL, Ranchi for more than two years. Also, he had industry experience of more than two years as a practicing advocate and in law firm. His areas of interest include International Law and International Trade Law.
Ms. Anusha Shrivastava, is an LLM from Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur, with specialization in Corporate Law. She has also done her PG diploma in Intellectual Property Rights from National Law School of India University, Bangalore. She has done her graduation with distinction from University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun. She started her career as a legal associate in a law firm and entered into academics by teaching in Barkatullah University, Bhopal. Apart from that, she has taken up various certificate courses in the field of Intellectual Property Laws and Competition law from WIPO and FICCI. Her area of interest includes Intellectual Property Laws, Arbitration Laws, and Corporate Laws. She has also presented papers in both National and International conferences.
Soon after completing her B.A.LL.B, she was actively involved in litigation and legal research in Supreme Court of India, High Court of Delhi, and District Courts. Further, Ms. Sangwan was teaching at Faculty of Law, JamiaMilliaIslamia, New Delhi while performing other administrative work responsibilities as a Teaching Assistant in the session 2014 - 2015. Before joining the G.D. Goenka University, Ms. Sangwan had served as Research Consultant in the Policy Research, Projects and Programmes (PRP&P) Division of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India. She was part of organizer’s team in conducting the Northern, Eastern and Central Region Consultations towards Third Universal Periodic Review on behalf of NHRC across the country. Ms. Sangwan has done her LL.M. (Corporate Laws). She cleared her UGC-NET in the year 2012. Besides, she had also successfully completed post-graduate diplomas in Human Rights, IHL and Refugee Law; and International Trade and Business Law from Indian Society of International Law (ISIL), New Delhi. She is about to complete her Ph.D. from Faculty of Law, JamiaMilliaIslamia, New Delhi. She has presented scores of papers in various national and international conferences and seminars. Also, she has published research papers and articles in leading journals. Her expertise involves areas relating to women, children, person with disabilities, health law, constitutional law, human rights, international humanitarian law, etc.
She has qualified NET - JRF in political science. She completed her under graduate degree from Women's Christian College, Chennai. She finished her MA in political studies from JawaharLal Nehru University, New Delhi and pursued her consequent studies from the same institution. She has completed her M.phil on the Environmental Impacts of FDI in the mining sector and is currently working on her Ph.D on the gender concerns in Development induced Displacement. Her academic interests include environment, gender equality, issues in development, culture, religion and language. She has participated in a lot of national and international conferences and has also published many works.
She is currently pursuing her PhD from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Dwarka, Delhi. She has completed her B.A. LL.B (Hons.) & LL.M from USLLS, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Dwarka, Delhi. She has also done diploma in Intellectual Property Rights from World Intellectual Property Organization, Geneva. Her areas of expertise are Mercantile Law & Criminal Law.
Earlier she was working as an Assistant Professor for two years at School of Law, Galgotias University, Greater Noida. Before joining academics, she had practiced in Delhi High Court & District Courts for almost three years.
She also has a publication in a journal of International repute and have participated in various seminars and conferences.
A teacher with 11 years of academic and administrative experience, Ms. Lakshmi started her teaching career at Hidayatullah National Law University. Family Law and Private International Law (Conflict of Laws) are her favorite subjects and commands expertise over these subjects. Apart from Family Law, she loves to teach Law of Torts as well.
She has taught at ITM University, Gurgaon and SGT University, Gurgaon before joining GD Goenka University. She has very rich experience in working with several committees like Moot Court Committee, Halls of Residence Committee, Disciplinary Committee, Anti Ragging Committee, Internal Complaints Committee and Proctorial Board. She was the Program Coordinator for 5 year law Degree Programs at ITM University and SGT University.
An alumnus of Madras University, she has B.Sc, B.L and M.L degrees and has qualified UGC NET. She has completed research leading to the award of PhD Degree in the area of Conflict of Laws and has submitted her thesis.
As a good organizer, she had organized many Moot Court Competitions at the National Level and has also organized a number of Seminars and Workshops. She has participated and presented papers in various seminars and conferences both nationally and internationally. She is keen on publishing her views through research articles, regularly in reputed law journals.
Ruchi Sinha is an LL.M from National Law Institute University, Bhopal with specialization in Intellectual Property Law in 2014. She qualified CBSE-UGC NET in December, 2014 and holds a certificate diploma course in "IPR & Information Technology in the Internet Age" from Indian Law Institute. She has presented papers in National conferences and seminars relating to IPR.
An alumnus of Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University, graduated in Law from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University and completed her L.L.M. from Manav Bharti University, Himachal Pradesh and qualified UGC-NET in December 2012. She practiced Law for two years in various district courts in Haryana and dealt with criminal, matrimonial and property disputes. She is heading the legal literacy club by being active in promoting clinical legal education and have written articles on gender sensitivity issues in India and her area of research includes Domestic violence, Land acquisition laws
Mr. Shyamtanu Pal is working as Assistant Professor, School of Law at the GD Goenka University, Gurgaon, Haryana. Before joining the same, he was working as a Faculty of Law at the Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur (C.G.) from January 2011 to April 2016. He had completed his BA.LL.B. (Hons.) from Tripura Govt. Law College, Agartala, Tripura and studied his LL.M. from the Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur, Chhattisgarh, having Corporate Laws as his specialization.
He has more than five years of teaching experience and was teaching both Post-Graduate and Under-Graduate courses at HNLU. During his teaching experience at HNLU, Raipur, he taught the subjects of Corporate Law, Corporate Regulation, Corporate Finance, Corporate Reconstruction, Indian Contract Act, Transfer of Property Act and Media Law. At the Post Graduate level, he was teaching General Principles of Corporate Law and has guided several LL.M. dissertations as well. Currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. from West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata.
Mr. Pal has contributed by publishing his research papers in several edited volumes of Books and Journals on various contemporary social and legal issues. He has published articles and presented papers in various National and International Seminars/Conferences on varied subject like Corporate Law, Cyber Law, Criminal Law, Competition Law, Law Morality and Religion, etc.
He has completed his LL.M. in International Law from the South Asian University (A project of SAARC) in 2015 and LLB from Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi in 2013. Presently he is pursuing his Ph.D. from Panjab University. He has successfully cleared the Junior Research Fellowship-National Eligibility Test conducted by UGC in 2014. On the research front, Mr. Sumit has been actively involved in many projects. He has contributed to a research report for Deutsche GesellschaftfürInternationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on Unfair Trade Practices in 2013. He has also contributed in the Law Commission of India's research on identifying obsolete laws in 2014 and also conducted research on the Rape Trial in Delhi in 2012 and Right to Shelter in India for different NGOs in 2011. He has various articles and research papers to his credit which are published in various National and International Journals. He has also has presented number of papers in various International and National conferences.
Yogesh Dixena completed his B.A. LLB. (Hons.) from Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur in 2014 with specialization in Corporate Law and International Trade and Investment Law. Thereafter, he completed his LLM from Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai in Legal Research and Pedagogy and qualified NET, December - 2015. Prior to joining G D Goenka University, he was associated with Wadia Ghandy and Co., one of India's top tier law firms. During his law school, he was keenly interested in mooting and has participated in several moot court competitions of national and international repute.
