DEBATE ON NET NEUTRALITY: IT & SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT ACTIVITY AT SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT, GDGU

Date: 16 April, 2015

IT & Supply Chain Management Club organized a debate on the theme of ‘NET NEUTRALITY’. The topic is everywhere in the news buzz these days after telecommunication companies came up with the new plans which promotes Net Neutrality, like Airtel floated Airtel Zero scheme which will behave as an open platform for app makers to provide toll free data services.

An article from Business Standard- Flipkart withdraws from talks to join Airtel Zero (Dated: 15 April, 2015) was also considered as a base case study for the discussion wherein the students studying Bachelors enthusiastically participated in the discussion. One of the participant Zoravar Sher Singh Kalsia, contributed by saying that- with net neutrality acceptance there could be a possibility of rising prices by various internet service providers (ISP) whereas Sahil Yadav controverted with the statement as he strongly feels that – ‘Net Neutrality will give us freedom to communicate freely online. So the students came up with diligent ideas whether it is just a corporate interest or it will actually be beneficial to the consumers.
