Prof. Ashok Saxena
On 25th & 26th March 2015, Prof. Ashok Saxena, Distinguished Professor and Dean Emeritus, University of Arkansas, USA, visited GD Goenka University. Prof. Saxena, B Tech from IIT Kanpur, MS and Ph.D. in Material Science and Metallurgical Engineering from University of Cincinnati has rich experience in industrial research laboratories as well as academics. Before joining University of Arkansas he worked as Professor and Head in Georgia Institute of Technology, USA (Georgia Tech). He has various publications and awards to his credit and is currently a serving Director of ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology)

During his two day visit (25th& 26th March) Prof. Saxena met with the senior management of GD Goenka University that included Vice Chancellor, Deans of various schools, HoDs of various departments at School of Engineering (SoE). He also held discussions with a group of students and faculty members from SoE. He visited the hostel and other recreational facilities and also delivered an expert lecture on “Outcomes Based Education (OBE) and Outcomes Based Accreditation (OBA): Experience of ABET and Washington Accord to the faculty members of GDGU. In an interview with the editors of ‘G-Flash’ (SoE Newsletter), Prof. Saxena mentioned that he was particularly impressed with the facilities at SoE/GDGU and the pedagogy which emphasizes the practical learning aspect of engineering education.
