Roger haydenG D Goenka University recently collaborated with Le Cordon Bleu Australia to offer courses in hospitality. Dr. Roger Haden, Manager-Educational Leadership, Le Cordon Bleu Australia was here on a visit to G D Goenka University to strengthen the partnership between the two institutions. “Being a representative of the Academic Services Unit of LCB, I am here for quality assurance and the proper delivery of the program. I will be working with the hospitality school here, helping them with the methodology and the best teaching practices. We are also in the process of establishing a platform where we can regularly exchange information to enable a pro-active partnership”, said Dr. Haden.

Talking about the main issues faced while teaching hospitality in the classroom Dr. Haden said, “The key challenge for teaching hospitality in University is to be very aware and mindful of the fact that you are training your graduates to be ready for an industry from day one. You have got to integrate work and study in the program so that when students go out in the industry they have real experience as well as required skills. The challenge is to increase the ways in which we can bring the industry into the curriculum. A University can have multiple collaborations with the industry. The students and faculty can start a research project based on problems faced by hotels. For example a research project that brings the isolated local community and the industry together. Through such projects you are not only raising the profile of the university but also helping students to work closely with the industry and subsequently serving the community”.

Dr. Haden believes that the relationship between LCB and GDGU will be a strong one. Praising the commitment on the part of University, he also appreciated the hospitality he received during his stay. “I really enjoyed my stay with such wonderful food and gracious hosts. There is great positivity around the campus and I look forward to coming back soon”.

He stressed that the education should be student centered and should carve out a proper pathway for the students to facilitate their entry into the industry.
G D Goenka University thanks Dr. Roger Haden for his insights and strong support and looks forward to a strong and firm relationship with Le Cordon Bleu, Australia.
