In order to enhance the industry relevant skillset of its students, School of Engineering at GD Goenka University (GDGU) entered into a collaborative program with IT giant IBM early this year. The winter semester started at GDGU with two rigorous training sessions called T3 Program (Train the Teacher) by SME (Subject matter experts). Mr. R. Ram Vivek and Mr. Viqaruddin Surki visited GDGU as subject matter experts from IBM. These sessions were attended by all the faculty members from department of Computer Science and Engineering (DCSE).

Mr. R. Ram Vivek, an expert for the course ‘Web development using PHP and HTML’, took 4-days thorough sessions from 11th -14th January, 2016 on basics to advance topics of PHP and web technology. At the end of the sessions Mr. Ram explained the latest practices that are being following in the industry in the context of the topic, and which areas are to be emphasized while delivering the course to the students.

The second T3 program was conducted from 18th -20th, January, 2016. Mr. Viqaruddin Surki from STG Systems, IBM India was the subject matter expert. He has more than a decade of experience in ‘open source software’ and Open Standards’, as a corporate trainer. He conducted sessions on the same. During these sessions he cleared lots of myths about open source and proprietary software. He introduced faculty members to many open source tools on which students at GDGU (GD Goenka University) will be trained in the current semester.

These SMEs will be returning soon in the mid of the semester to interact with the students, monitor their learning path and motivate them to work hard and meet the standards and requirements of the industry, thereby improving their employability prospects.
