On 11th February 2014, The School of Engineering, GD Goenka University organized a visit to The 12th Auto Expo-2014 for the B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering students. The visit was coordinated by faculty Mr. Abhishek Kumar Pandey (Assistant Prof. of Mechanical Engineering). The objective of the trip was to create a curiosity among students about the engineering involved in automobile industry. It was an informative, interesting as well as enjoyable trip for the students.
Auto Expo is Asia’s largest and the world’s second-largest motor show. The expo is organized at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida, U.P., and is organized jointly by the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). The Auto Expo is a window for technology transfers showing how the Indian Automotive Industry is absorbing new technologies and promoting indigenous research and development for adapting these technologies for the rugged Indian conditions.
The visit started in the early hours of a working day by the university bus. Within the Auto Expo premises, Mr. Abhishek Pandey led the group of students to the venue around and briefed them on introduction of the Auto Expo as well as about the companies who were participating in this Expo. He also answered the queries of students in regard to the emerging technology, marketing strategies and technical issues related to different automobile companies in general.
The students visited different company’s exhibition halls where they interacted with respective engineers/ representatives. Students were amazed to see the cutting-edge technology used in different models of cars and bikes like Bajaj U-Car, Datsunredi-GO, Volkswagen Taigun, Mahindra Halo, BMW M6, Honda CBR 650F, Suzuki V Strom 1000 to name a few.
