The School of Hospitality announces yet another interesting event this week. The Live Bakery Session with Chef Mary Cech.

Date & Time: Wednesday, September 24, 2014 between 9.30 AM and 3 PM.
Location: Demonstration Room, Main Kitchen Lab, G. D. Goenka Education City.

An award-winning pastry chef and author of two cookbooks.”The Wine Lover’s Dessert Cookbook” Recipes and Pairings for the Perfect Glass of Wine, Mary’s first cookbook was released September 2005. Savory Baking will release October 2009, both published by Chronicle Books.

Mary’s dynamic career has taken her into the nation’s finest kitchens, including Charlie Trotter’s, where she served as pastry chef for two years helping the Chicago restaurant raise its level of excellence from a 3-star to a 4-star rated restaurant. She was the opening pastry chef for both the five-diamond resort Grand Wailea in Maui and the famedb Cypress Club Restaurant in San Francisco.

Mary has won prestigious recognition twice as one of the “Top Ten Pastry Chefs in America” by Chocolatier magazine and was named “Pastry Chef of the Year” by Chefs in America.

School of Hospitality students will have real life interaction with the reputed Chef and be introduced to the art of bakery . Chef Cech will demonstrate the preparation of Bakery Items and work with the students of School of Hospitality to give them a hands-on experience.

The Chef and students will prepare the following recipes:

  1. Prune Upside-down Gingerbread
  2. Fruit & Veggie Galette
  3. Peanut Butter Torte or Chocolate Torte with Peanut Butter
  4. Pistachio Wafers
  5. Prune, Walnut, Apple Tart with Crumble Chili Grilled Eggplant Tartlet.
