The idea is to trace the history of the role of a chef. From a primarily back-of-the-house department and profile, Chefs in recent years have come to the forefront of restaurant business. There was a time when they rarely met guests face to face, concentrating on their craft. They were talented and gifted but rarely became more famous than the restaurants they promoted.

Today most successful chefs are media-savvy, they are the brand ambassadors of their particular restaurants, they attend glitzy P R events and sell restaurants with their charisma and candour. How this transition has come about and how today’s chefs cope with the added onus of marketing restaurants apart from the already very tough job of managing a high-standard enterprise? Also from primarily five-star hotel endorsed restaurants, today the accent is on innovative and niche stand-alone restaurants.

To essay this shift, School of Hospitality has invited two chefs who define this new-age version of chefs. They are smart, they are creative and know how to talk about their craft.

Chef Nishant Choubey, Executive Chef, Dusit Devarana, New Delhi

Chef Anahita Dhondy, Chef Manager, Soda Bottle Openerwala.

Alongside ‘World Chef Day’ we will also be celebrating ‘International Bread Day’ on 20th Oct 2015. A spectacular display of almost 50 breads from different countries will showcase breads baked by our students. This is an open house for all schools from 11 am onwards on 20th Oct 2015, in the corridor outside B 007, wherein students and faculty can come and sample the large variety of breads. Do not miss this opportunity to witness a large variety of fascinating breads and do break some bread with your friends!

At 11.30 am in B 007, there will be a panel discussion and chat show with two of our guest chefs:
