A career in academics entails far beyond teaching. Being an academician is a very good job. The freedom to think creatively and learn is priceless. As a tenured member of the organization, academicians are expected to perform many a community services at the department, college and university levels. In view of this, faculties must attend and conduct Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) besides their teaching aptitude in order to have a thorough understanding of the academics and the various other related perspectives for the individual growth. With this objective in mind, the series of Faculty Development Programme (FDP-2016) was Initiated and successfully conducted in the School of Management, GD Goenka University, on 18th February 2016 by Ms. Sumedha Chauhan, Assistant Professor – SOM. The FDP programme received an overwhelming response with 20 faculty members as participants from School of Management.The topic for the FDP was “Determinants of Assimilation of Open Source Enterprise Applications”. It was conducted from 3:30 – 4:30 pm in Block – A (School of Management Block). In the session, Ms. Sumedha explained the concepts related to open source software and its adoption process. She also elaborated as to how to use proprietary software, how in the computer users must agree with it and the various projects that are effective and ensures compliance with licenses and organizational policies. Lastly, there was a question-answer session for the participants just to have clarification on certain technical terminologies used in the FDP. The FDP received an overwhelming response from all the participants.
