An exhibition of engineering projects designed and developed by the students of GD Goenka University was organized at the University Campus on 18th February 2015. Out of the 60 entries, 25 top notch projects were selected and displayed. Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Raj Singh inaugurated the function along with Dean School of Engineering Prof. (Dr.) Deependra K Jha. Deans from different schools of the University also graced the event with their presence. Everyone expressed their reverence on the feats of students who are only in the 1st and 2nd years of their undergraduate programs. The exhibition was scheduled between 10 AM to 5 PM.
It was indeed a sight to view different creative ideas that the students had come up with in their projects. In the current scenario where most engineering students in India are introduced to the idea of projects in their final year, GD Goenka University is breaking the tradition and in its own unconventional way encouraging students to get hands on experience along with the technical concepts being taught in the class.
Some of the major attractions of the exhibitions were AAKAR – The low cost 3D Printer, Voice Activated Home Automation System, Library Management System Application, Digital Queue Management System, Drones for Agricultural Surveillance and Counter-Terrorism, Solar Car, Intelligent Irrigation System and Designer Brick from Construction Site Waste. Apart from these many other projects such as computer games coded in C language, models of mechanical linkages, different types of robots, water level controller, automatic street light system and a variety of models based on LED & solar energy were also noteworthy.
The exhibiting students not only learnt to develop their projects but also to present their ideas in front of an audience. This will enhance their presentation skills as well as help them in taking their current concept to a higher level based on the feedback provided by the experts and consumers of technical products.
