As part of the four T3 (Train the Teacher) trainings scheduled before the start of fall semester, a 3-day program from 25th-27th July 2016 by IBM on “Data Mining and Predictive Modeling” was organised by GD Goenka School of Engineering. Mr. Balaji M. was the subject matter expert for the program, who is an IBM Global Training Partner. Along with Mr. Balaji, Mr. Viqaruddin Surki, Software Technical Group Systems, IBM India was also present during the training. This program was for faculty members of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

This training program is part of the GDGU-IBM collaboration for the B.Tech (CSE) with specialization in “Business Analytics and Optimization”. During these three days the topics covered were; Data Mining, Data Understanding and Preparation, Model Development and Techniques, and Model Evaluation & Deployment.

Different models such as Apriori, Decision tree, CHAID, C&R tree, Neural Network & Time Series Analysis, K-Means, KNN, Nearest Neighbour, Multi-Nominal Logistic Regression and Discriminant Analysis, were discussed in detail along with many case studies. The sessions were quite interactive and helpful for the faculty members who will impart this knowledge and the related skill sets to the students who are enrolled in the IBM specialization.
