VC asks Research Scholars to undertake socially relevant research

Prof (Dr) Deependra Kumar Jha, Vice Chancellor, G.D. Goenka University and Chairperson of the University Research and Innovation Council (URIC), exhorted the PhD scholars to undertake socially relevant research that is novel, has utility value and is ethical.”

Prof Jha, who was speaking at the Orientation programme organised for the PhD scholars at the University Auditorium on July 29, 2016, warned the scholars to avoid plagiarism. The University has a zero tolerance policy on plagiarism, he cautioned the scholars while outlining the crucial stages of research.

Prof (Dr) S. Shantha kumar, Dean, Academics, made a detailed presentation regarding the process of registration for the course work, the mandatory attendance requirements and the assessment process. He also explained the role of SRC (Student Research Committee), DRC (Departmental Research Committee), and URIC (University Research and Innovation Council).

Prof Shantha kumar also briefed the research scholars on the minimum and maximum duration for completing the requirements of PhD Programme, process of thesis evaluation and oral defence, and minimum number of publication and paper presentations.
