With the motto of ‘A good outdoor knowledge is the best recipe to preach’ , the students of BBA from the School of Management were taken for an Industry Interface to UltraTech Cement, Kotputli Rajasthan, to explore the real time working of India’s leading cement factory. UltraTech Cement is part of the US $40 billion Aditya Birla Group.

We left the campus at 9 am with vibrant excitement of having an opportunity to see the real working of one of the leading conglomerate of the country. We reached the site around 12 pm and were greeted and welcomed by the entire UltraTech team. We were provided with safety equipment which comprised of head gear, eye gears and gloves. Then we were escorted for the visitors’ presentation on the organization and its safety guidelines which was followed by coffee and snacks.

We were taken to the monitoring and visual room which looked no less than a digital modeling of the entire functioning. The office in charge informed us about the production process, the raw materials used and the means of extracting them. Our questions that followed were answered by the team in great detail.

Next we were introduced to the huge machines which were so properly designed that even the smallest of activity could be monitored. The entire industry runs on the self-generated electricity by steaming process. The factory even runs round the year producing approx. 1000 tons of different type of cement (OPC43, OPC53 and PPC)each day. It employs 320 permanent workers and 700-800contract workers.

We were also served delicious lunch by the UltraTech team and they even provided us with refreshment for the return trip. The entire visit was an enriching and knowledgeable experience.
