With an objective of giving the young minds a platform to understand and learn the basics of data analysis using ‘SPSS’ as a computing tool, School of Engineering, GD Goenka University organized a workshop on ‘Data Analysis using SPSS-I’ on January 25, 2016. Analysis of data includes inspecting, cleaning, transforming and modeling of data with the goal of obtaining useful information that can contribute to the decision-making process. SPSS is one of the most popular statistical packages which can perform highly complex data manipulation and analysis with simple instructions.

Resource person of the workshop was Dr. Neeraj Kaushik from NIT Kurukshetra who is a renowned expert in the field of data analysis.

The workshop started with the session on Data preparation- Coding & Tabulation, Basic Data Cleanings in SPSS followed by Descriptive statistics & Cross-tabulation, Regression Analysis, Parametric tests (t-test, ANOVA) through SPSS. The workshop received an overwhelming response from students, faculty members and researchers. A total of 60-participants from various universities/institutes of NCR (National Capital Region) including Amity University, GD Goenka University, KR Mangalam University, MVN University, D.S.D Government College etc. participated in the workshop. Participants from different fields like engineering, management, pure & applied mathematics, and optometry created a truly diverse learning environment during the workshop. The workshop was highly appreciated by all the participants.
