A two-day workshop conducted by Gourab Ghosh, faculty of English Studies titled as “Writing Right” was organised on April 4th and 5th, 2016 for the faculty of School of Humanities and Social Science to improve the standard and quality of writing academic and administrative documents.

This in-house Faculty Development Programme (FDP) was designed as part of capacity-building programmes at SoHSS. The first day talked about techniques involved in structuring a report for official records. It was followed by exercises where participating faculty were given worksheets to practice writing reports for various purposes.

The second day focused on basic editorial skills, and common errors that one often comes across in various official documents in terms of format and content. The lecture was followed by a number of worksheets intended to enhance writing and editorial skills of the faculty. The practice session focused more on how to write fast-paced and precise articles for website, publicity material and industry-interface in order to reach out to a wider audience.
