Book is said to be teacher’s best friend, and to nurture this existing bond of friendship between teacher and book; students of School of Education (G D Goenka University) visited ‘Book Fair’, on January 14, 2017; organized by National Book Trust (NBT) at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The theme presentation of the 2017 edition was ‘Manushi – Books Written On and By Women’. The focus of the Book Fair was on the ‘Culture of Reading’. Student- Teachers witnessed author interactions and new book releases of various subjects namely History, Political Science, Geography, Anthropology, Psychology, Economics, Sciences, various autobiographies and literatures, best sellers of the year. They experienced seminars, panel discussions, storytelling sessions in Children’s Pavilion and learnt about the importance of books in the ‘Digital Age’. The fair which is being organized since past 44 years aimed to inculcate and promote reading habit amongst children and for the same, National Centre for Children’s Literature promoted children’s literature. After a visit to the fair, the students reflected and discussed the importance of books in today’s digital world.
