Continuing with the proud tradition of the university, the senior students along with the new students mingled at the freshers party – REVA held on 5th October 2018 in the University campus.
It was a fun filled event where the new students got a chance to showcase their talent. The evening was full of enthusiasm and thrill. The programme started with a poem nicely composed for the event by the first year student, Yash Aggarwal. The audience was introduced to the judges of the evening who were Ms. Siddhi Gupta – World Supermodel India and alumni of GD Goenka University, Ms. Jahnavi Arora – Miss Delhi Beauty with Brain and Mr. Naman Virmani – Mr. Delhi NCR Runner-up. They were welcomed and presented with a token of appreciation by the Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) S. Shanthakumar; Registrar, Dr. Nitesh Bansal and Dean, Student Welfare, Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Kaushik.
This was followed by the talent hunt round where all the freshers showcased their varied talents with confidence. A dance performance by the students from Dance club filled up energy in the air. This performance gave way to the ramp walk session by the freshers. What an amazing sight it was to see all the freshers walk with poise in style! The students were all ears for a medley of some golden and timeless songs by the Music Club.
Finalists were announced; the last round of questions and answers followed. It was an amazing sight to see the freshers answering the questions using their wit. The dance club also presented a duet dance performance, which was a treat to the eyes. Finally, the most awaited time of the evening was there, judges were invited to declare the results. Arpita Joshi from School of Humanities and Social Science and Mahima Singh from School of Fashion and Design were respectively, the first and second runner-up; Shivaji from School of Humanities and Social Science won the crown of Miss Fresher 2018. Among the boys, Kevin Koul from School of Hospitality and Bhargava from School of Humanities and Social Science were declared the first and second runner-up; Harkesh Dagar from School of Medical and Allied Sciences won the title of Mr. Fresher 2018. The Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean, Student Welfare along with the judges crowned Mr. and Ms. Fresher. Students from Literary Club were the hosts on stage for the evening.
It was a mesmerizing evening, which ended up with DJ Karan Singh from Diego Event who played a wonderful blend of different foot tapping numbers. Students enjoyed at the dance floor and were also seen around the stalls arranged for snacks and refreshments. It was an amazing and a refreshing evening for the welcome of the new batch of the university. The event’s grand success was the result of the teamwork by all the clubs of the Board of Student Activities under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Kaushik, Dean Student Welfare.
