The maiden annual cultural fest of GD Goenka University, Acceleron ’14, was formally inaugurated on 6th March, 2014 by the First Counsellor (Economic, Commercial & Cultural), Embassy of Italy, Mr. Carmelo Barbarello, marking the beginning of a host of cultural and competitive events; the two day fest provided young and talented a platform to emerge.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest Mr. Carmelo Barbarello, expressed his interest in exploring and strengthening cultural and academic ties between Italy and G.D. Goenka University. Mr. Barbarello particularly praised the infrastructure and facilities being offered at the university.
Congratulating the staff and students, Prof. (Dr.) Raj Singh, Vice-chancellor, G.D. Goenka University encouraged the Goenkans to always keep imbibing the true spirit of excellence and unity. He underlined the importance of cultural fests in academic life of a university student, where such an event help evolve the communication and leadership skills among students besides giving an outlet to their latent talents.
Earlier, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Dean, School of Fashion & Design, Head, Board of Student Activities (BSA), welcomed the 300 strong contingent of students from over 30 universities and colleges that had come to participate in the fest. He extended a warm welcome to the university fraternity and thanked them for wholly supporting and organizing Acceleron ’14, making it a successful event. The students of G.D. Goenka University performed Ganesh Vandana, seeking blessings from almighty.
The fest comprised of various competitions and sections- music, theater, photography, dance, painting and workshops. The event was a good mix of learning and fun activities. Acceleron ’14 is an annual endeavor of the university and an effort to bind the students and faculty in a single knot of unity and to provide maximum exposure to students enabling complete realization of their potential.
G D Goenka University, Gurgaon welcomed its new batch of students with two days.
