On 9th April 2019, a visit was planned byDr. J.S Dhankhar and Ms.RaveenaNegi of School of Agricultural Sciences to KrishiVigyan Kendra, Bhopani (Faridabad). This visit was planned for students of MSc Agriculture (Agronomy) and MBA (Agribusiness). They visited the KVK farm and the laboratories. In the field the students weregiven the practical training on vegetative propagation methods in Horticulture, Forestry and Vegetable Sciences. Demonstration on identification of various forestry and horticulture plants was also given by the KVK faculty. Different demonstration units of vermicomposting and mushroom were also visited by the students. Different plantation techniques were explained to the students on horticulture, forestry, vegetables, general pulses, cereals, fodder and forage. The demonstration on various agricultural implements and machinery were given to the students.
In the labs they were acquainted with the soil testing equipment and various value addition techniques in fruits andvegetables. Following topics were covered by the KVK staff:Training Pruning of Horticulture Crops, Entrepreneurship skills, Agri. Business and various extension programmes in the Haryana, Agroforestry Systems and Propagation methods in Agroforestry, Importance of soil health in agriculture crops, Methods of doubling the farmer’s income and Value addition. At the end there was an interactive session between the KVK staff and students. Various field problems were discussed and feedback was provided by the students and they were highly satisfied with the visit. The outcomes of the visit which was to enrich the students with the knowledge of agriculture and related technologies was achieved. The studentsgained knowledge on formulation of plans through integrated farm technologies and demonstration of entrepreneurship skills and business management competencies at the end of this programme.
