As an educational trip 45 students from SOFD, visited the Surajkund mela on 11 Feb 2020. Students had a wonderful experience in exploring the art, culture & power of Indian crafts.

A unique International craft festival, the Surajkund Mela is a platform for artists across the globe to showcase their culture and talent. Hosted annually by the Haryana Tourism Department in Surajkund, the mela has many offbeat attractions for tourists of every age. The festivities last a fortnight from around 1st to the 16th February 2020 engaging visitors in traditional folk dances, musical shows, and even puppet skits. The motive behind this step is to accentuate India’s diverse cultural history and make it more prominent among other nations. The theme for the year 2020 is Himachal Pradesh.

India is a blend of vibrant cultures that are skillfully showcased at the Surajkund Mela. Along with partner nations, the organizers invigorate the mood of its visitors with scrumptious ethnic dishes, affordable color-popping paintings, antique stone sculptures and fun rides to keep even the little ones busy. The profusion of so many elements elevates the fervor of the mela making it an unforgettable experience. A cultural ethos, the Surajkund Mela, offers a stunning insight into the historical background and traditional beauty of hidden India. Each state exposes a part of their culture at the Mela, providing an aesthetic indulgence for both Indian and foreign tourists.
