A guest lecture was organized at the School of Education on the topic, “Human Rights in the Workplace and issues surrounding Multinational Corporations.” The resource person for the lecture was Prof. Colin B. Picker who is Pro Vice Chancellor (South Western Sydney) and Dean, School of Law, Faculty of Law, Humanities and the Arts, at the University of Wollongong.
The objective of the lecture was to make the student-teachers aware of the human rights especially at the work place. He emphasized on the importance of rights and responsibilities of citizens. Prof. Picker laid stress on the crucial role of school teachers at secondary school level as they have to not only protect rights but also make sure that in the process no right is getting violated. He further spoke about the significance of human values that are of utmost importance for school teachers to demonstrate at work place.
Student-teachers asked questions on varied issues related to human rights. Prof. Picker was kind enough to listen to all the queries and answered the same very patiently thus enlightening the whole audience.
