GD Goenka University organized a workshop on “Digital Literacy and Online Safety” on 3rd October, 2018. The objective of the workshop was to create awareness about cyber crimes which are increasing at alarming rates today. It aimed at highlighting cyber intelligence which means that each student teacher today must be aware of the cyber world being a boon as well a bane.
The workshop focused on pertinent topics like understanding digital literacy, safety and privacy tools, responsible online behavior and protection measures to be taken by prospective student teachers. Ms. Janice Verghese, Trainer at Cyber Peace Foundation highlighted on the Online Harassment and its repercussions, skimming, correct use of social networking sites, smart phones, net banking, ATM cards and more specifically IT Acts which every student teacher must be aware of.
The student teachers learnt about “Digital Shakti Programme”. They were advised be the resource person that they should not be afraid of using technology instead should come one step forward and learn how to use it intelligently for the betterment of their students. Student teachers interacted with the resource person and learnt a lot.
