School of Education organized a guest lecture on the theme, “The Impact of Gandhian Thought on Education Today” on 5th April, 2019. The theme was selected because the student-teachers are taught about the philosophy ofIdealism as practiced and advocated by Gandhiji.The objective was to make students appreciate and value the Gandhian philosophy and also try to use it in their day to day lives. The resource person for the lecture was Prof. Suman Khanna Agarwal, Former Professor,University of Delhi. She is a Gandhian scholar and travels all over the world carrying out lectures on the theme.
The lecture was organized for all the student-teachers of School of Education. Prof. Agarwal gave insights into the various aspects of the Gandhian thought. She spoke about non-violence as being the best way of life. She spoke about the Basic Education Model also known as NayiTaleem as advocated by Gandhiji.
The student-teachers were satisfied with the theme and content of the lecture and appreciated the way the resource person conducted the session.
