Community service happens to be an integral part of the Teacher Education Programs and in order to organize a smooth, constructive and fruitful community service programme, the Dean, School of Education Prof. Reva Raina visited Navjyoti India Foundation on the 16th of January, 2019. Navjyoti India is a not-for-profit organization conceived by Dr Kiran Bedi. This NGO runs on the main objective of crime prevention through welfare policy. They focus on activities such as education of street children, vocational skills development programmes for women, detox programs for drug addicts etc.
Prof. Raina along with Dr.Aabha, faculty from the School, met the Director of Navjyoti Foundation, Ms Chandni Bedi with the objective of involving student teachers of School of Education in various community service activities organized by the NGO. Students are encouraged to participate in such activities to sensitize them about various social issues and also to develop a sense of empathy and responsibility towards others among them. The visit aimed at developing a collaboration with the NGO in this direction.
