Student Project exhibition at GD Goenka University

16th March 2018: GD Goenka University organized ‘SPEED-2018’- Student Project Exhibition on Engineering Design. The 4th exhibition saw an overwhelming response from more than 40 Universities and colleges across the country with approximately 450 students & 200 models on display. The exhibition is aimed to inspire, motivate and induct project based learning among students and help them showcase their innovative ideas, technical soundness and creativity. Chief guest Mr. Nikhil Jain, Founder of Sanicon Sustainability Solution Pvt Ltd. inaugurated the event and congratulated the students on their vision and diligence.

Students along with faculty supervisors came up with innovative environmental friendly projects that made the event interesting and a complete success. Some of the notable projects that came into limelight were Pollution Invader, Energy Efficient Systems, Power Generators, Internet Security, IOT, Iron Fist, Intelligent Irrigation, Bio Electricity, and Hydraulic Tea Replantation System. An array of automobiles ranging from electric cars to race cars were also on display. Through these projects the participants have addressed social issues like health, women safety, air pollution, deforestation etc. that have long plagued our society. Selective few projects were recognized and awarded in 10 separate categories. Prof (Dr.) Sudeep Sharma, Assistant Dean, School of Engineering strongly believes in offering the young minds a creative platform and appreciated their efforts & brilliance. He pronounced the role and responsibilities of future Engineers to handle challenges through innovation, technically sound environmental friendly designs and new discoveries.

4th Edition of SPEED

 

GD Goenka University, School of Engineering organized 5th edition of SPEED (Students’ Projects Exhibition on Engineering Design) on 24th October 2018. 170 projects were registered in this program from 40 different school, colleges and Universities. Eminent personalities from different fields of education and innovation were invited for the program. Mr. R. Pannerselvam, Principal Director, MSME Technological Development Centre was the Chief-Guest of the event. The special guests were Dr. Umesh sharma, Scientist-E at Department of Science and Technology; Dr. Gaurav Mittal, Scientist-E and Head, Department of Combat Sciences INMAS-DRDO; Dr. Amit Tyagi, Scientist-E, at INMAS-DRDO; Mr. Jesmeet Singh from CADD Centre and Mr. Vikas Verma from MSME.

Mr. Pannerselvam during his inaugural speech talked about the relevance of SPEED and its importance in the advent of new technology. Furthermore, he talked about several MSME schemes, which provide grants up to 6.25 lacs to sponsor new Technology Incubation Cell in an institution. He encouraged the students to come forward and get into touch with MSME regarding their innovative projects.

The purpose of SPEED is in alignment with the GD Goenka University’s instructional vision of project based learning. Such innovative projects also motivate the students to implement their learning in real-time situations. The aim of the program was to create and develop socially relevant projects which was beautifully achieved by the students as they created models such as, Solar Assisted Food Distribution Node, Rash Driving Monitor, Producing Biodegradable Plastics using Fruit Waste, Mathematical Modeling of Plague Disease, Optimization of Vertical Farming, Jatropha Industry, Smart Wheel Chair and many more.

SPEED not only provides students a platform to think out of the box and be innovative but also an opportunity to interact, and communicate with fellow scholars of different colleges and universities. It also enables students with skills like team building, project management, and life long learning.
