Arrival of New Buds: Orientation Programme 2016

The School of Management, G. D. Goenka University welcomed its new batch of students with two days orientation programme spanning from 29 August 2016 to 30 August 2016. The main objective of this programme was to lay the foundation for the new students and acclimatize them with the systems, structures and manners of School of Management, GDGU. Day one of the Orientation was dedicated to the registration, document verification and acquainting the students with the different facilities and blocks of the University. Day two of the orientation programme i.e. 30 August 2016, was dedicated to acquainting the students with the School of Management. Dr. Pradeep Goel, Dean, SOM extended a warm welcome to the students. He introduced them to faculty members. He shared about the flexibility in course plan, different competency builders, knowledge augmenters, amalgamators and minor courses introduced by the university.

After Dr. Goel’s address, a guest lecture was delivered by an eminent personality Dr. Sangeeta Saxena, Editor – Aviation and Defence Universe and Director – Media & Edit Solutions. By sharing some of her experiences she motivated the students to set their goals and strive to achieve them. After Dr. Saxena’s address, Dr. Tanuja Kaushik, HoD, SoM briefed the students about the course plan, time table and credit requirements for successful completion of respective courses run at SOM.

During the second half of the day, our hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. Deependra Kumar Jha shared his message with the students and shared the achievements of the University with them. He enlightened them about their future and motivated them to achieve their goals. In this session, Dr. S. Shanthakumar Dean, Academics and Dean, School of Law, G. D. Goenka University briefed the students about the University Regulations, Examination system, Discipline and Anti Ragging Measures to ensure clarity in all important matters as far as the decorum in the University is concerned.

The pyramid of student activities and clubs organized from time to time in G D Goenka University were shared by Dr. Kakoli Sen, Dean, School of Humanities & Social Science and is also the Dean – Student Welfare. She showcased the various recreational activities, clubs, and other major events of last year including Fresher’s party, CSR activity, Street play, Sportopia and the annual university fest Acceleron.
